Guipure - Moet
Guipure is a type of French bobbin lace. During the seventeenth century, a Royal boost to France's lace industry enabled them to compete with Venice's famous export. Experienced lace makers were persuaded to move to France and teach their craft, and French lace began to evolve. Later in the century, rich, floral designs became fashionable. Guipure is a textured, full-bodied lace where embroidered motifs are connected by wound cords or plaits rather than net or mesh. Popular in Couture, this type of lace hugs the body with ease, as it is not restricted by an unyielding flat base net. My design mimics these delicate patterns on fabric robust enough for everyday wear. Price is per linear Metre. If you order more than one metre it will come as one uncut piece.
