Pointillism
Pointillismis a technique that involves placing small dots of color in close proximity to each other to create a larger image. A revolutionary painting technique pioneered by Georges Seurat and Paul Signac in Paris in the mid-1880s, it is enjoying a resurgence in modern art. Rather than using dots to build colour, I use them to create the impression of light contrast creating glitter, crystal and iridescent impressions. Occasionally I use pointilism in paintings, but more often I use it in digital drawing, for crisp reproduction and colour accuracy.
